I went to Europe a couple of weeks ago with my family. This is Switzerland.  We drove from Milan to Lucern. This is a small town near Lucern, filled with locals who came to here to ski. Switzerland is divided in regions that speak French, German, and Italian. Most of the people in this town spoke German.  A small percentage (<1%) of the people in Switzerland spoke Romansh. In the Southeastern region.




In Switzerland, if a foreigner tries to buy property, it has to be approved by the government. The first American to buy property in Switzerland is Charlie Chaplin.


I think most people (and I mean Americans) think of banking, highly skilled industries with watch making, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, but farming and agriculture are well developed too.  This pic is from a local market in Lucern. In the midst of winter there are still a wide variety of produce, and they are super fresh.



he gun policy is unique in Europe. The personal weapon of militia personnel is kept at home as part of the military obligations. This, in addition to liberal gun laws and strong shooting traditions, has led to a very high gun count per capita. Switzerland has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the world.
