A couple of weeks ago, I went to DC for a conference. DC is about 4 hours drive from New York. This is my first time in DC. I absolutely love the city. People were much more polite than New York, and the city is very organized with a clean subway system. They probably have one of the best subway systems in US, although the one way roads in downtown DC is a different story. Of course I did the touristy stuff.  I took this pic of Washington Monument(華盛頓紀念碑) from Lincoln Memorial directly across.  This is the world's tallest stone structure build in the 1880's. The day I took the picture was perfectly sunny. Unfortunately, the reflecting pool was slightly green....

Lincoln Memorial...

Capitol Hill.....

We did a lot of sightseeing, and we spent the most time at Vietnam Veterans Memorial. At each end of the wall, there's a thick book with all the names of the veterans whose names are honored on the wall and their locations. The names are arranged by chronological order of casualties for each day. Because of this, names may be difficult to find. As I passed along the wall, there are many mementos, letters, photos, etc left by family members and old combat buddies against the wall to remember those who died in the war.

There are so many places I wanted to visit but never had a chance like the White House, Smithsonian, Museum of Aviation, Old Town Alexandria, Arlington Cemetery. I wonder if there are tours of the areas around Pentagon. Every morning on my way to conference,I see many military men on their way to Pentagon, so curious what it's like inside....
I hope I'll have another chance to visit DC in depth.
